About Us

Sherman Oaks’ original neighborhood bar. Est. 1965. Still here.

Our Story

Since 1965, the Chimneysweep has been the place where Sherman Oaks actually lives. Not a concept. Not a rebrand. Just a real bar on Woodman Ave where the bartenders remember your drink, the jukebox plays what you want to hear, and nobody asks you to scan a QR code to order a beer.

We’ve been through a lot in sixty years. The neighborhood changed around us. We didn’t. And somehow, that turned out to be the right call.

Sixty years and counting:

We opened the year the Beatles played Shea Stadium. We've outlasted trends, recessions, a pandemic, and about fifteen "hot new bars" that opened two blocks away.

The regulars run this place:

We mean that literally. The people who've been coming here for ten, twenty, thirty years are why this bar exists. If you're new, you'll be a regular soon enough.

Drinks worth coming back for:

The classics, done right. Plus a tequila and agave program we just built from scratch — because it was time.

Our Specialties

We make the classics well — Old Fashioned, Negroni, Manhattan — because there’s no shortcut for those. We just added a serious tequila and agave program, because this is Sherman Oaks and it was long overdue. Cold beer, a short wine list, and free popcorn that’s been on the bar since before most of our customers were born.

The Beekeeper:
Mezcal. Fresh lime. Wildflower honey. Smoke optional, attitude mandatory.
Negroni
Gin, Campari, sweet vermouth. Equal parts. No adjustments. You're welcome.

Nights at the Chimney

Every Friday has a story. Every regular has a tab. Every night ends better than it started.
